As a dog lover with two of my own, I know people often want to bring the family pet with them on vacation, and Nantucket is no exception. The Island is a dog lover’s paradise with thousands of acres of walking trails, a newly created fenced-in dog park, a pet store, and even a dog wash!
Pet-Friendly Accommodations: We have several pet-friendly accommodations on the Island such as The Nantucket Hotel is right in town and walkable from shops, restaurants, and the beach!
The Veranda House and The Chapman House are both part of the stylish boutique hotels owned and run by the Nantucket Resort Collection.
The “Woof” Cottages at The Nantucket Boat Basin offer waterfront cottages with all the amenities you'll find in their standard cottages, plus doggie beds and bowls, a welcome bag of treats, and a pet turn-down.
Prefer to rent a house or cottage? Our rental database at Atlantic East Real Estate has many pet-friendly homes. Owners sometimes charge a larger security deposit and require any pets that stay to be on an annual flea and tick program. For the best selection of pet-friendly rentals, I suggest you book as early as possible as they book up quickly!

There is an abundance of walking trails on the Island and dog walks are a great way to explore! Download the ACKTrails app to get started. Some of my favorite walks include Sanford Farm and The Middle Moors.Is walks not your thing? Last year The Nantucket Land Bank opened the first fenced-in dog park on the Island. Located at 5 Miacomet Road, there is an area for small dogs, an area for large dogs, and ample parking.
Pet Supplies:
Geronimo’s is a full-service pet store that has all of your dog’s needs, from food and treats to collars, leashes, and branded merchandise. Visit them at 119 Pleasant Street or check them out online. Geronimos
Pawsitivity – Located downtown at 5 Center St, Pawsitivity sells stylish harnesses and leashes. In the winter you can find them in Vail, CO.
Pet Hospital – The Offshore Animal Hospital located at 11 Crooked Lane is the Island’s only full-service year-round veterinary hospital. They offer wellness visits, medical, acupuncture, surgical, and dental services by appointment or on an emergency basis. Offshore Animal Hospital
